Award-winning magician Ben Seidman to perform at The War Memorial

Television star, comedian, and celebrated magician appears on The War Memorial’s Arts at the Alger series

BenSeidman Tea WebGROSSE POINTE FARMS, MICHIGAN — See something truly unique as The War Memorial’s Arts at the Alger series presents a night of whimsy, spectacle, and comedy featuring magician Ben Seidman. Seidman will appear in a one-night-only event on April 13, 2017; a gourmet dinner in The War Memorial’s lakefront ballroom will precede the magic show.

Seidman, who starred in Magic Outlaws on the Travel Channel, is an award-winning sleight-of-hand performer, actor, and comedian — and the only person to have served as the resident magician at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. He was also a magic consultant for Mindfreak on A&E, inventing magic effects for three seasons of Criss Angel’s celebrated show.

Seidman’s performances are a treat, chock full of comedy, captivating storytelling, and — of course! — magic. His energetic playfulness is contagious, resulting in a thoroughly memorable performance.

“When I was a child, something impossible happened,” Ben says. “A strange man pulled a coin out of my mother’s ear. That might sound overly simplistic, but it had a profound effect on me. I didn’t know what the feeling was, but I knew I wanted more of it.”

That same feeling of wonder and amazement is guaranteed for Ben’s audience. “There’s a big difference,” he says, “between doing a trick and creating a moment of magic. Sharing a real moment of magic has heart, so the content must come from within. Recently, a girl approached me and said she cried three times during my performance because she was so moved. The three moments she spoke of took years to dream up and bring to life. I can only imagine that my love of sharing these specific pieces came through.”

Guests attending Magic with Ben Seidman will be treated to a pre-show seated dinner, featuring a menu specially crafted by Frank Turner, Executive Chef at The War Memorial. Local magician Anthony Grupido will return to The War Memorial to open for Ben Seidman. Anthony will make us laugh as he dazzles and amazes us with an entirely new show! Dinner begins at 5:30 in The War Memorial’s lakefront ballroom; Seidman takes the stage at 7:30pm in The War Memorial Theater.

Tickets, which may be purchased for both the dinner and show, or for the show only, are available at, or by calling 313.881.7511. Tickets to the dinner and show cost $45; tickets to the show only are $25.

The War Memorial is located at 32 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Farms.
