Wins For Warriors Foundation and The War Memorial Offer a Holiday Salute to Community Heroes

1000 Christmas Salutes returns in a big way, featuring NUCLASSICA in two special holidays concerts

The War Memorial is proud to partner once again with Wins for Warriors Foundation, founded by Justin Verlander, to present a one-of-a-kind holiday experience — 1000 Christmas Salutes. The War Memorial campus will be transformed into a sparkling yuletide wonderland, complete with festive fare, charming crafts, and visits with Santa. This event is made even merrier by two family-friendly concerts performed by NUCLASSICA, the nationally touring electro-pop violin ensemble.

1000 Christmas Salutes will be held on Sunday, December 18, with NUCLASSICA performances at 3pm and 7pm; doors open at 1pm and 5pm respectively. The event is free for all military members, veterans and their families.

“It’s an honor and privilege to celebrate the holidays with our community’s heroic men and women,” said Charles Burke, President and CEO of The War Memorial. “This unique partnership between The War Memorial and Wins for Warriors truly allows us to serve those who serve us all.”

“The holidays are an important time to recognize those who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms,” said Justin Verlander, Founder of Wins for Warriors Foundation. “We are excited to partner with The War Memorial to show our appreciation to the families of our local military and veteran community.”

Military members, veterans and their families will enjoy a first-class holiday experience, from delectable goodies prepared by The War Memorial’s Executive Chef, Frank Turner, to photos with Santa Claus himself. Children (and children at heart!) will delight in holiday-themed crafts provided by Arts and Scraps, a Detroit-based non-profit group that transforms recycled industrial materials into inspiring artwork. NUCLASSICA, the violin sensation that fuses classical music with pop and electronica, will perform two exhilarating concerts in The War Memorial Theater. The family-friendly performances, featuring holiday music with a unique patriotic flair; guests will be free to attend all or part of the concert seating of their choice.

“By providing a strong and consistent demonstration of patriotism, The War Memorial aims to lead the charge to recognize patriots in our community, across our nation, and throughout our daily lives. During the holiday season, we feel a special call to honor and thank those who served and sacrificed for our nation. It is our hope that 1000 Christmas Salutes will serve as a symbol of our sincere gratitude,” said Burke.
