The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

Join The Family Center for an engaging and informative discussion with a panel of local experts. The event is at the Grosse Pointe Public Library Central Branch at 10 Kercheval Ave. in Grosse Pointe Farms.

A pioneering researcher and one of the world’s foremost experts on traumatic stress offers a bold new paradigm for healing. Fascinating and inspirational, The Body Keeps the Score transforms our understanding of traumatic stress, revealing how it literally rearranges the brain’s wiring—specifically areas dedicated to pleasure, engagement, control, and trust. Dr. van der Kolk then shows us how these areas can be reactivated through innovative treatments including neurofeedback, mindfulness techniques, play, yoga, and other therapies, to begin the healing process.

Copies of the book are available at the Grosse Pointe Public Library and Harper Woods Public Library. They can also be borrowed from The Family Center collection.
