History Hangs with Betsy

History Hangs

The War Memorial has a rich history steeped with trials and tribulations that have made this place not only a magical one to visit, but a wonderous and magnificent story to learn. From humble beginnings as a family home, a transition into a museum, then ultimately to the facility you know and love today.

Join our in-house historian, Betsy Alexander, as she walks you through the historic Alger House and explains the different rooms and historical significance.

Tours are held every other Thursday at 10 am.

Since 1949, The War Memorial has been committed to its original dual purpose set forth by the Alger family: to serve as a perpetual memorial to servicemen and women whose sacrifices ensure our freedoms and to provide a vibrant center for community enrichment. Today, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, revenue from ticketed events and support from our partners and donors directly contribute to continuing this mission. Together, we ensure The War Memorial remains a welcoming place to honor veterans, create lasting memories, and serve the community's well-being for generations to come. Visit our Support Page to learn more about the variety of ways you can support our mission.
