In this workshop Nobuko Yamaski will teach Kirie, the ancient Japanese art of paper cutting. A noted cutout picture artist is the late Takidaira Jiro.
To make Kirie art, the class will cut out a simple design in black paper, then lay it on a sheet of Bristol paper colored with pencils in bright colors.
Because Kirie takes cutting skills, this is a perfect follow-up class for students who have taken Japanese woodblock classes.
Students are asked to bring: Their design Ruler A red ball pen Carving knives ( Nobuko will have knives for students to borrow.) Tape Colored pencils
Nobuko will provide: Black paper Carbon paper Bristol paper Cutting board
