Detroit native Author Daralynn Walker creates ‘Super Cities! Detroit’ children’s book

A recent article by Kahn Santori Davison of the Detroit Metro Times talks about how Author Daralynn Walker was approached by Arcadia Publishing to write Super Cities! Detroit.

Daralynn Walker is a children’s book writer known for her Madison Miles & Friends books. Arcadia’s Super Cities children’s book series features fun facts about the history, culture, and people who make an American city great. Thanks to Walker the Motor City will now have a spot in the collection. The article shares how Walker talks about Detroit with images including the history of Belle Isle, how Detroit was founded and even monuments in Detroit.

Walker believes Detroiters of all ages will find the book informative and feel a sense of pride as they turn the pages. Super Cities! Detroit is scheduled to be released on Feb. 6 by Arcadia.

Tis the season for frozen features and chilly days. In early February, a pair of seasonal winter and ice festivals pop up in metro Detroit.

Returning to downtown Royal Oak is the Winter Blast. The community event is scheduled Feb. 3-5 in and around Centennial Commons and the Royal Oak City Center. The event features live music, free ice skating, ice sculptures, a snow slide, learn to ski and snowboard experiences, zip line, food trucks, free family activities and more.

In Wayne County, folks can soon check out the Plymouth Ice Festival. The family-friendly festival is committed to spreading the word about downtown Plymouth and helping the local business community thrive through event outreach and marketing efforts.
