Week Four: Insurrection and Investigation

In a Newshour segment at the link below, PBS’ Judy Woodruff interviews former-New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean about Senate Republicans using the Filibuster to block the creation of an independent, 9/11-style commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.  Governor Kean, a Republican, knows a bit about independent investigating commissions having chaired the 9/11 Commission at the joint request of the US Congress and then-President George W. Bush.

It looks to me right now like the American people might never find out the truth. And we need to know the truth. We have got to find out why this happened, how it happened, why the Capitol wasn't defended… who was involved in the conspiracies. And we need to do that to prevent it ever happening again. — Former New Jersey Governor and 9/11 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean on why an independent commission is needed to investigate the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol

The interview with Governor Kean at the link below runs 7:17 minutes.
