Week Six: Inflation
There is no question that prices for many goods and services have risen appreciably in recent weeks. Opinion is divided, however, as to whether these price increases are harbingers of sustained inflation as some pundits assert or, as Noble Laureate Paul Krugman argues, just a bit of “wheel spinning” as the global economy accelerates amid pandemic-induced supply chain disruptions and labor shortages.
In either case, Inflation (or the prospect of Inflation) is getting more public attention than it has in many years. Inflation, however, is one of those topics about which people tend to have strong but not necessarily well-informed views.
