Verlander’s Wins for Warriors and The War Memorial Honoring 1,000 Local Military Families with 1000 Christmas Salutes Event

Wins for Warriors Foundation, founded by former Detroit Tiger and Houston Astros Pitcher Justin Verlander, and The War Memorial will pay tribute to 1,000 Michigan military and veteran families at their 4th Annual 1000 Christmas Salutes Family Movie and Holiday Celebration on Sunday, December 23, 2018.

The 1000 Christmas Salutes event will honor 1,000 military members, veterans, first responders, and their family members with a complimentary Christmas celebration that includes multiple showings of Dr Suess’ newly-released movie The Grinch along with festive strolling food and drinks, holiday music, photos with Santa, and holiday arts and crafts!

The 4th annual event will be presented at the historic War Memorial, (32 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Farms) free of charge for military and veteran families as an expression of gratitude from Wins for Warriors and The War Memorial to all those who keep our Country safe.

“This is a small way to say thank you to our military and veteran families, who sacrifice so much for the freedoms we enjoy,” said Verlander. “The holidays are meant to be enjoyed with family, and thanks to our partnership with The War Memorial, we are able to bring local military and veteran families together to enjoy a fun Christmas celebration that honors their sacrifices and salutes their commitment to our Country.”

“As we head into our fourth year of partnership with Wins for Warriors, we are reminded just how important it is to honor the men and women who serve our nation year-round and express our sincerest gratitude for all that they do,” said Charles Burke, The War Memorial President and CEO. “1,000 Christmas Salutes affirms our mission of being a patriotic leader and acts as our gift to military families during the holiday season!”

Last year, roughly 800 service members and their families attended the 1000 Christmas Salutes celebration. The event is free for military, veterans and their families, and offers three meal/activity seating times (11am, 1:30pm, 4pm), and four movie times between 10am and 5:45pm on December 23.

Because space is limited, pre-registration is required to guarantee seating. Reservations can be made at https://www.warmemorial.org/1000salutes.
