War Memorial partners with American Legion Post 372

GROSSE POINTE FARMS April 15, 2024 – The War Memorial has a new partnership, and it’s with a local American Legion Post.

American Legion Post 372 is now headquartered and will have its regular meetings at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms. Previously, the Post did not have an official meeting space. The partnership began in early April.

“The War Memorial is open to all veteran groups,” War Memorial President & CEO Maria Miller said. “With our reinvigorated focus on veterans initiatives, The War Memorial is excited to be a new home for American Legion Post 372.”

Now with the partnership in place, American Legion Post 372 will hold events and meetings at The War Memorial. Its meetings are held the third Thursday of the month, from 5 to 8 p.m. Its next meeting, and first at the nonprofit organization, is April 18.

“The partnership is a way for us to re-establish our post, promote the values of The War Memorial and the mission of the American Legion,” David Douglas, commander and adjutant at Post 372, said. “We want it to grow and flourish and our partnership with The War Memorial brings prestige and enhancement not only to our Post, but to the American Legion at large and The War Memorial.”

Douglas said Post 372 was established in 1927 and currently has 24 members.

“It’s been difficult to recruit new members when we didn’t have a Post,” he added. “Now we can reinvigorate the Post.”

The Post is now one of nearly 70 organizations that The War Memorial is proud to partner with. Others include The Family Center of Grosse Pointe & Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Garden Center, and Grosse Pointe Artists Association.
