Theater Update – October 2024
The War Memorial is continuing its efforts in exploring the future of The Patriot Theater, which has been closed since June 2021 due to extensive flood damage. We are currently considering market research and the feasibility of the project to assess the best approach for the theater’s future. In addition, we are developing a request for proposal to obtain an architect and construction firm for potential designs and project costs. We will continue to keep the community informed as more details become available.

Our live concert season includes world-class classical, jazz, and pops performances that leave audiences mesmerized, and intimate talks with leaders from the world stage provide food for the soul and mind. As the survey period has ended, we want to thank patrons, partners, donors, and friends who took time to provide valuable input. As we continue to strive to provide quality programming for our guests, we will review responses from the community survey to help us improve our services.
On June 25, 2021, The War Memorial, like so many in our community, experienced substantial damages from the harsh storms in our area.
The beloved Patriot Theater suffered greatly from the storm, with water flooding our entire orchestra pit and destroying our stage and seats. Within days of the storm, we realized the damage was irreversible. Inevitably, the theater had to be completely gutted to prepare for restoration and the massive renovations that will allow us to open our doors and take the stage once again. While a devastating loss, our staff remains committed to our mission to serve and uplift our community. We look forward to the future and a new robust lineup of world-class performers, thought-provoking lectures, and masterful films.
