Landscapes in the style of Pierre-Auguste Renoir with Donald Cronkhite
One of the best ways to learn posthumously from a master painter is to paint a “master copy." In this workshop we will study Clearing in the Woods by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. You can see it at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Renoir's landscapes are noted for their freshness and immediacy, while demonstrating the artist's fascination with the effects of outdoor light.
Drawing on close examination of landscapes by Renoir, Donald will help us get inside the artist’s head and begin to understand how Renoir found inspiration in nature. Then, we will paint a copy, building on the techniques we've learned about.
