Brought to you by the Grosse Pointe Artist Association:
Artist, art historian, popular tour guide and instructor Donald Cronkite will take the podium on February 16 to help explain the influences of the Old Masters like Rembrandt and Monet on the artists of today.
For instance, Rembrandt drew on his unique understanding of the human condition to add emotional depth to his works, ranging from portraits to scenes from the Bible.
And in the late 19th century, Claude Monet joined other rebellious artists to stage an exhibition of their works in their new, contemporary style. This new style, and in particular one painting by Monet, led the group to become known to the world as the Impressionists.
