The Nicholson Family’s Dedication to The War Memorial

The Nicholson family has long been a steadfast pillar of support for The War Memorial, both through their time, resources, and generosity. Ann and Jim, Alicia and John, and Stephanie and Tim have all played pivotal roles in ensuring the institution’s continued success, each contributing in unique and impactful ways.

Alicia and Stephanie have each served on The War Memorial’s Board of Directors, lending their leadership and insight to help guide the institution through a period of significant growth and transformation. Their involvement reflects a deep commitment to The War Memorial’s mission of honoring veterans, offering cultural and educational experiences, and fostering community connections.

In addition to their volunteer work all three Nicholson families have generously supported The War Memorial. Utilizing a variety of giving methods such as major gifts, planned gifts and gifts of stock, all have had a tremendous impact, further solidifying their commitment to the institution’s future.

Alicia Nicholson shares her perspective on the importance of philanthropy:

"Our parents and in-laws have consistently been wonderful examples of giving back to the community, whether through their time, resources, or various talents. Their commitment to philanthropy and generosity has taught us the significance of community and the value of helping others. We've seen firsthand the positive impact their generosity creates and how rewarding it can be. Each of us has unique gifts and talents that can be shared for the betterment of our communities. We hope to instill this importance of giving back and helping others in our children."

Reflecting on The War Memorial’s evolution, Alicia continues,

"I truly enjoyed witnessing the growth and transformation of The War Memorial during my time on the board of directors. The changes this institution has undergone over the past decade have been remarkable. It has become a hub for connecting our community, serving veterans, families, and various non-profits while also hosting incredible events that create lasting memories."

Through their continued support, the Nicholson family embodies the values of service and community engagement that The War Memorial strives to foster. Their contributions ensure that The War Memorial will remain a vital resource for future generations, a place where connection, service, and remembrance thrive.
