EyesOn Design this Father’s Day weekend
EyesOn Design car show at Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores is set for Father’s Day, June 16. This year’s theme is Design Masters: A Lifetime of Design Achievement.
This marks the 37th annual celebration of vehicle design. Thousands of car fans and over 200 vehicle owners are expected to journey to the historic home for the visual automotive feast.
“It’s a charity car show and event for the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology,” Glen Durmisevich said.
Durmisevich, of Rochester Hills, is the chief judge of the car show.
Regarding the theme, Durmisevich said that previous Lifetime Design Achievement Award winners will play a large role.
“Those nominated to get that award this year are nominated only by past winners,” he explained. “Past winners also are the only ones who vote on the final winner of the Lifetime Design Achievement Award. It’s probably one of the highest forms of peer recognition in the automobile design industry.”

Former 127th Wing commander to speak at The War Memorial
Shortly after summer officially begins, The War Memorial is excited to host a book talk with a local author and former Air Force general.
On Thursday, June 27, retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Doug “Odie” Slocum will speak about his new book “Violent Positivity.” The book was released in February, published by Slocum.
The free event will begin at 6 p.m. at our nonprofit organization, located at 32 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Farms.
“People can expect to hear leadership lessons learned over 35 years,” Slocum said. “I had some absolutely fantastic opportunities to take care of people in my career. My book is the story of how I got in the position to do that and how it all came about.”
Slocum is the former commanding general of the 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
