Celebrate Detroit Month of Design

Again this September, Detroit is celebrating its designation as a UNESCO City of Design with a month of activities highlighting the innovative and creative work of the designers and artists in the metropolitan area.

This year, the Grosse Pointe Artists Association is officially joining the celebration with two lectures.

The next lecture, Thought-Provoking Photomontages, is at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Award-winning artist and GPAA member Adam Strange of London, Ontario will walk folks through the process he uses to make his thought-provoking digital photomontages. He will discuss collage and photomontage in the context of the past and present. With a nod to the Dadaists and Surrealists, Strange calls his genre “Social Surrealism.”
