The Art and Science of Color
In this course, students will dive into the complex and fascinating world of color theory, learning how colors interact and influence perception. Through hands-on exercises and explorations, students will discover how surrounding colors can alter the appearance of a hue, and they will study the core concepts of color value, hue, intensity, temperature and quantity. With these foundational principles, they will develop a deeper awareness of color as a dynamic element in design and art.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Analyze and apply color relationships in creative work across various media.
2. Use color vocabulary confidently to discuss and critique the behavior of color in any context.
3. Distinguish between actual and factual perceptions of color, understanding how illusions and physical attributes shape our experience.
No prior experience is necessary. The course is suitable for high school students and adults who are eager to deepen their understanding of color dynamics and theory.
