Chamber presents Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast

In observance of National Day of Prayer, the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce is hosting Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast May 4 at 7:30 a.m. at Country Club of Detroit. It will feature keynote speaker and Grosse Pointe native JT Mestdagh- an author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, podcaster, and inspirational speaker.

In 1952, a bill was passed that the president shall set aside and proclaim a suitable day each year, other than a Sunday, as a National Day of Prayer, a day on which Americans may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals. in 1983, the first National Day of Prayer was observed, taking place at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C.

The president is required by law to sign a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
