Combining cars and charity

Here in the Motor City we love cars, coneys, and charity. The Lingenfelter Collection gives you the opportunity to combine cars and charity (you’re on your own for the coneys) with their annual Spring Open House to benefit the American Cancer Society. The Lingenfelter car collection consists of over 200 classic cars, muscle cars, and import vehicles. This privately owned collection boasts cars from multiple different eras and generations. The Spring Open House has been an annual event since 2016 and has raised over $300,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The event takes place Saturday, April 22nd from 10 am – 5 pm in Brighton at 7819 Lochlin Dr.

No tickets needed, but a donation at the event is encouraged. For more information, visit the event section on the Lingenfelter Facebook page.

Strengthening Democracy in America

In celebration of The Pew Charitable Trusts’ 75th anniversary, a live webcast will soon be held, focusing on American democracy.

The Pew Charitable Trust was founded in 1948 and uses data to make a difference. Pew addresses the challenges of a changing world by illuminating issues, creating common ground, and advancing ambitious projects that lead to tangible progress. Its mission is to improve public policy by conducting rigorous analysis, linking diverse interests to pursue common cause, and insisting on tangible results, and to inform the public by providing useful data that illuminates the issues and trends shaping our world.

The webcast program will include opening remarks by Susan K. Urahn, the president and CEO of The Pew Charitable Trusts, a conversation with Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress, and a panel discussion with Filmaker Ken Burns, president of the Pew Research Center Michael Dimock, and Professor Beverly Kirk.
