Annual book fest returns to Eastern Market
Sunday, July 16, the Book Club of Detroit is holding its 6th annual book fest at Eastern Market in downtown Detroit. It’s the largest book festival in the state of Michigan, attracting vendors from all over the USA and Canada. The festival is an effort to help generate a deeper appreciation and love for books and the culture surrounding reading. Enjoy food, music and a variety of genres of books in Shed 5. Come meet the authors of your favorite books and grab a signed copy while you are there.
The event is being held from 10 am - 4 pm and is free and open to the public.

Detroit nonprofit to host first 5k run/walk
Save the date for S.A.V.E. Detroit’s first 5k run/walk.
July 16 at 8 a.m., gather at Belle Isle in Detroit for an event aimed at bringing awareness to mental health. S.A.V.E Detroit is a charitable organization on a mission to strengthen the city one person and one situation at a time. It works to support every citizen as it strives toward reviving the spirit and population of Detroit through initiatives promoting safety, unity, and shared purposeful goals for years to come.
The 5k run/walk cost $45 for adults and $35 for children.
S.A.V.E. Detroit’s mission is to unify the community by taking direct action against violence, engaging volunteers for the greater good, and partnering with other organizations who share similar goals.
