Deadline approaches for 8th Annual Promising Artists Exhibition
It’s that time of year- the deadline is fast approaching for the 8th Annual Promising Artists Exhibition with the Grosse Pointe Artists Association.
The deadline is April 15.
This exhibition is part of GPAA's Promising Artists program designed to give current high school students and recent alumni of the program the opportunity to showcase their work and experience the process of participating in a professional, juried exhibition.
This year’s juror is Evan Condron, an artist and educator who has worked with Wayne State University’s Mobile Arts Workshop, and has been an art advisor and art handler at Progressive Art Studio Collective.
The best of show will receive $100. Gallery talk and awards presentation is at 6:30 p.m. on May 9.

April Veteran Seminar to focus on Substance Abuse and Suicide Prevention
For the second veterans educational seminar of the year at The War Memorial, we take a look at ways to support veterans through the various means of professional help that exists for suicide prevention and for those looking to recover from alcohol use. The April seminar will coincide with Alcohol Awareness Month.
The free seminar and lunch is planned for Thursday, April 25 at 11 a.m., led by representatives from Volunteers of America Michigan and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The deadline to register for lunch is April 19 at 5 p.m. Registrations made after that time will be for the seminar only.
