Disability Law Group Veteran Benefits Seminar
Hosted by The War Memorial’s Veterans Committee, the first veterans educational seminar of 2024 is Feb. 8 with folks from the Disability Law Group in Troy.
The Veterans Committee, new in 2023, has a goal to offer more initiatives and programs for veterans. From family events to seminars that are pertinent to those who have honorably served our country, The War Memorial is eager to give back to our veterans!
Annual Veterans Day Breakfast
Our annual Veterans Day Breakfast includes the presentation of thank-you notes handmade by local students, an uplifting service song medley, keynote remarks, and a gourmet breakfast. The War Memorial is pleased to offer a space for local service-members to experience camaraderie over a meal together.

This year we gather for a moment where people of all religions, cultures, and walks of life can come together in solemn remembrance of and solidarity against the hatred that fueled those tragic events in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and indeed the entire United States and world.
The Great Crusade Lecture Series: Operation Cobra, The Beachhead Breakout presented by Steve Mrozek
The Great Crusade is an upcoming lecture series by Steve Mrozek, Director of Selfridge Military Air Museum. This series will delve into World War II's history and American air power's role in the conflict. Memorial Day 2023
We gather in the shadow of Les Braves, for a time-honored Memorial Day ceremony which will include will include musical tributes, remarks of remembrance and honor, and a recitation of the names of Grosse Pointe residents who lost their lives in service to our country.
Les Braves II: At Water's Edge Dedication
Join us for these evening of ceremony and fun, as we unveil our sculpture, Les Braves II: At Water’s Edge on Thursday, May 25. This ceremony will have remarks from special guests and dignitaries, including artist, Anilore Banon, and will feature musical guests, the US Army Herald Trumpets and Dave Bennett.
An Evening of Red, White & Blue
Join us for the return of An Evening of Red, White & Blue on May 24, as we welcome back our cherished supporters for this celebration, which will feature cocktails, live music, dinner, fireworks and the formal dedication of the Fred M. Alger Center.

The War Memorial, in partnership with Ascension Michigan is hosting health screenings on Veterans Day - free for all Veterans and First Responders.

Memorial Day 2022
We gather once again in 2022 for a time-honored Memorial Day ceremony which will include a speech by Brig. Gen. and War Memorial Board Member, Rolf Mammen and a recitation of the names of Grosse Pointe residents who lost their lives in service to our country.
Voices and Votes: Democracy in American
Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, the traveling version of a major exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, is coming to our Carriage House this fall for a limited engagement.
The exhibition examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of government “of, by and for the people,” and how each generation since continues to question how to best form “a more perfect union.”

Veterans of all ages are invited to a series of evening artmaking events. Art can help you reduce anxiety; explore your feelings; reconcile emotional conflicts; foster self-awareness; manage behavior and addictions; and increase self-esteem.
