GPAA Art Exhibition: Black & White

Over 60 artists see a world without color in the Black and White exhibition at the Grosse Pointe Artists Association.

In the show, 65 artists use black and white to tell their stories. The jurors for the show were Jennie Osman and Helen Kendall of the Art Department at University Liggett School. A gallery talk was held Sept. 21 with the artists and jurors.

The exhibit, which challenges artists to look at a world without color - from subtle shades of grays to black- will be up through Nov. 10.

Happy fall, y’all!

With October less than one week away, the focus in Michigan shifts to what fall activities one should venture out to.

There’s no shortage of fall fun when it comes to cider mills in metro Detroit. Visit Detroit has compiled some essential cider mills to check out this year. The list is Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills, Franklin Cider Mill in Bloomfield Hills, Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill in Armada, and Plymouth Orchards & Cider Mill in Plymouth, all of which are in Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb counties.

Yates has a river trail that leads away from the building that's exceptional for exploring fall foliage; Franklin, known for their hot donuts, showcases equipment used to make cider; Blake’s now has a cider mill and an amusement park feel, a destination for families with kids; while Plymouth offers apple education and wagon tours.
