One for the Foxes - Live at The War Memorial
Here’s another chance to see award-winning instrumentalists at The War Memorial!
On Friday, One for the Foxes brings their talents from around the world to Grosse Pointe Farms. The trio consists of Dave Curley, Tadhg Ó Meachair, and Joanna Hyde who form an exciting and dynamic transatlantic trio that presents a rousing blend of Irish and American folk music, having already won over audiences on both sides of the ocean.
The group is made up of Dublin's Tadhg Ó Meachair, Galway's Dave Curley and Denver, Colorado's Joanna Hyde, and features a mix of Irish and American folk music and song — both traditional and newly-composed — presented in an energetic and engaging manner. Their performances strike a tasteful balance between the stories found in ballads across both sides of the Atlantic and the respective instrumental music traditions of these places.

War Memorial partners with local church for packaging effort
The need to feed is constant for one organization.
For the second year, The War Memorial is partnering with The Grosse Pointe Memorial Church to host a meal packaging event with Kids Coalition Against Hunger on Saturday, March 23.
Two shifts of packaging food will take place in the Fred M. Alger Center at The War Memorial - 10 a.m. to noon, and noon to 2 p.m.
This year’s packaging event marks the second time The War Memorial has teamed up with the church for this endeavor, the first time being last year.
“The War Memorial is proud to serve again this year as a packaging site for Kids Coalition Against Hunger,” War Memorial President and CEO Maria Miller said. “The church outgrew their space and asked if we would partner last year. We’re looking forward to seeing the community come together for this worthy cause.”
The first year the church partnered with the coalition was 2014, when 10,000 meals were packed. That number increased to 75,000 meals in 2023.
